Abberton Reservoir

Two pairs of swans feed around the edge of Abberton Reservoir near

Layer de la Haye, Colchester, Essex. The reservoir was made in the 1930's with compulsory purchase orders taking about 700 hectares of farmland as Anglian Water needed more fresh water for the expanding Essex population.

Essex Wildlife Trust now have a field centre there.
